Croton resident Jonathan VanAntwerpen, 49, was arraigned on Wednesday, Nov. 20 and charged with forcible touching after he allegedly put his hand up the skirt of a passenger sitting next to him near the Croton-on-Hudson station.
It is alleged that on Friday, Sept. 27, VanAntwerpen was sitting next to a stranger on the train. He allegedly pressed his leg into hers. He then moved his hand up her thigh and under her skirt. When the victim confronted him, he got off at the Croton-Harmon train station.
Scarpino said that the MTA Police, with the help of the Greenburgh Police and New York State Police, conducted an investigation, including viewing surveillance video recorded on the train and surrounding area.
VanAntwerpen appeared in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson court this week and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday, Dec. 18 to respond to the charge.
